Patient information leaflets
We have in excess of 1000 patient information leaflets and booklets covering a broad range of conditions and procedures. These are available by contacting the Patient Information Officer:

Patient information leaflets are intended to support information given by staff providing care and treatment.
Leaflets and booklets can be made available in alternative formats, such as large print, and translations can also be provided on request. For more information on how you can request this, please see our Accessible Information Standard page.

Who we are and what we do
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust was established in 1992. It comprises three hospitals:
The Trust provides acute hospital services for the majority of Cornwall’s resident population of approximately 500,000. This figure can be doubled by holidaymakers during the busiest times of the year.
NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the principal commissioner of services from the Trust.
Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is led by a board of executive and non-executive directors. Public Board Meetings are held approximately every six weeks.
Our Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions and Scheme of Delegation set out the way our Trust is governed.

Meetings with pharmaceutical companies and other medical suppliers
The meetings with pharmaceutical companies and other medical supplier’s information has been captured through the adoption of the Medical Industry Accredited (MIA) scheme.
- Raise standards of training for company representatives and service engineers visiting acute and critical care areas of hospitals;
- Provide assurance to hospital staff that company personnel admitted to sensitive areas are properly training and are fully aware of their responsibilities; and
- Help the Trust fulfil its duty of care to protect patients and ensure safe surgical and clinical outcomes

What we spend and how we spend it
On 2 October Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust appointed Grant Thornton LLP to provide external audit services for the financial year that ended 31 March 2019. It is a 3-year contract, with the option to extend it for a further 2 years. This decision was made following advice provided by the Trust’s Auditor Panel.
