The winner of this award was Dr Funagi Magshingaidze, Neer Peer Fellow and GP. Funagi received fantastic feedback from resident IMG doctors she’s helped support whilst they settle into working and living in Cornwall.
Other winners included Dr Alastair Thomson, Consultant Oncologist, whose mentorship, approachability and passion for teaching has made an invaluable impact on resident doctor training.
Dr Linda Simpson, Associate Postgraduate Dean for Primary Care in Cornwall was named the winner of the DME Award. Linda has made an outstanding contribution to the education of resident doctors in primary care over many years. Linda strives to deliver the very best training for our resident GP doctors across their training posts. This includes in both acute hospitals and GP Practices. The PGME team will be very sad to see Linda go when she retires at the end of July. They wish her the very best for a full and happy retirement.
Gemma Pickering won the non-medical excellence category. Resident doctors said she was an excellent support as a rota coordinator within ED and acute medicine.

Dr Ellis Adamson, Oncology ST3 won the award for Resident Doctors. Ellis’s peers felt she created an environment of learning, support, and encouragement, making sure everyone felt valued and confident.
Dr Angela Rogers, Consultant Vascular Radiologist, won the award for excellence in education. Angela received multiple nominations as trainees believed she went above and beyond to train and share skills.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology department won the newly introduced quality award. This award is for teams that have shown the greatest improvement across quality indicators, such as the GMC, NTS and NETs.
Dr Sarah Jarvis won the Foundation Award, given by our Foundation TPDs. Colleagues felt Sarah had shown great dedication as a Clinical Supervisor.
The PGME team look forward to the 2026 awards, and being able to thank more of our engaged and enthusiastic educationalists at RCHT.
