Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust launches new 10-year plan to improve care
We’re delighted to launch our new strategy, setting out our vision and priorities for the next 10 years.
The strategy outlines how we will meet the national challenges set in the 10 Year Plan for Health, while also addressing challenges locally to help improve care and build sustainable services for the people of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. At its heart is a clear ambition; to deliver Outstanding Care for One and All.
Over the next 10 years, we will focus on improving quality and safety, supporting its people, continuously improving services, and strengthening partnerships across Cornwall and Devon to deliver more joined up care. Key areas of focus include:
- Reducing waiting times.
- Transforming urgent and emergency care.
- Expanding specialist services such as cancer care and women and children’s services.
- Delivering more care closer to home through neighbourhood based services.
- Supporting staff and making Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust a great place to work.
Kim O’Keeffe, Acting Chief Executive Officer, said: “We’re delighted to launch our updated strategy. This is our plan for the next 10 years, which sets out how we will improve care for our patients, support our staff, and work with partners to build services that are sustainable for the future.”
Ella Stracey, Chief Strategy Officer, added: “We’re excited to take this plan forward. Right now, our focus is on our people; making sure our staff feel supported, valued and able to do their best work. Alongside this, we’re making practical improvements like working to reducing waiting times and improving patient flow, and we’re working closely with our partners to develop more neighbourhood based care, so people can access the support they need closer to home. These are important steps that will make a difference now and help us build for the future.”
To mark the launch, we have released a short film, featuring staff from across our organisation to bring the strategy to life.
The strategy also highlights the importance of digital transformation, research and innovation, and working closely with local partners and organisations to help people stay well and reduce pressure on hospitals. It has been shaped by feedback from staff, patients and partners across Cornwall.
