Vaccination and Health Promotion team secures three-year contract to deliver outreach vaccination programme
The Vaccination and Health Promotion team have successfully secured a three-year contract to deliver an outreach vaccination service, which will begin from 1 September 2026. This marks an exciting new chapter in the team’s continued evolution and commitment to improving population health.
Since their formation during the covid pandemic in late 2020, the team have continually adapted to meet changing service needs. Originally established to deliver mass vaccination programmes, they have since expanded their offer to include seasonal vaccination delivery, penicillin de-labelling services, staff health reviews, and health checks for GP colleagues.
More recently, the team has demonstrated significant success in the rollout of the RSV maternity vaccine programme, achieving top 10 performance nationally for delivery and worked alongside the RCHT community midwives to achieve the highest uptake for maternity flu vaccinations to date. The team also delivered the staff flu program in Autumn/Winter 25/26 and achieved the 5% increase in uptake target set by NHSE.
The team are keen to build on this success and the new outreach vaccination service will see the team further extend their impact into local communities. The service will focus on improving vaccine accessibility and confidence, particularly within areas of high deprivation and among CORE20PLUS population groups. Alongside delivery, there will be a strong emphasis on vaccine education, supporting informed decision-making and helping to reduce health inequalities.
The team are looking forward to seeing the continued positive impact of their work across our communities and would be happy to attend any RCHT events in the community to provide information and signposting – if you or your team have any events the team could attend, please get in touch.
