Colleagues from RCHT attend discovery day event

To mark the launch of Careers Week 2026, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust hosted its second Discovery Day event at the Knowledge Spa in Truro. The event, which was held last month, drew an impressive turnout of over 250 attendees across two lively sessions.

The day brought together a wide range of enthusiastic volunteers who acted as career ambassadors for their professions. Their energy and passion created a vibrant atmosphere filled with meaningful conversations, hands‑on insights, behind the scene tours and genuine curiosity from visitors.

With strong representation from local educational providers, attendees were able to explore clear pathways into healthcare careers and gain a deeper understanding of how to achieve their long‑term goals. While the event was designed to inspire our future workforce, it also offered a valuable opportunity for ambassadors to connect, collaborate and share experiences with colleagues from across RCHT. Feedback from both exhibitors and attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing hopes that Discovery Day will become a regular feature in the annual calendar.

A snapshot of the feedback received from attendees included words like ‘informative’, ‘well organised’, ‘brilliant’, ‘inspiring’, ‘useful’, and ‘spectacular.’ One exhibitor captured the spirit of the day perfectly, saying:

A range of information leaflets available from one of the venders on the day.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who made the event possible, including Clinical Matrons, Professional Leads, Managers who encouraged their teams to take part. Your support and commitment were essential to the success of the day.

Together we are shaping the future workforce. Thank you once again to everyone involved for helping make Discovery Day such a success.
