Women and Children’s Hospital digital officer wins multiple awards at Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards 2026
The Women and Children’s Hospital Programme and wider Estates and Facilities teams at RCHT are celebrating the success of digital support officer, Tamsin Allen, who has won three awards at the recent Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards 2026.
Tamsin, whose apprenticeship is in Associate Project Management, was awarded Digital & IT Apprentice of the Year and Achiever of the Year. She was also named Runner-Up for Overall Apprentice of the Year – an outstanding set of accolades in a highly-competitive field.
As the digital support officer, Tamsin has become a key member of the digital team within the Women and Children’s Hospital Programme. Her work has been central to the success of the Silent Hospital initiative, an innovative pilot project which involved testing the silencing of call bells on Wheal Fortune (postnatal) ward at RCHT to improve patient experiences and staff wellbeing, and ultimately drive efficiencies. It’s success has led to the planned expansion of the pilot project to Wheal Rose ward where the concept will be tested in a more acute clinical setting.
Alongside this, Tamsin has also worked on Building Information Modelling (BIM) functionality for our new hospital, and contributes to a range of Estates-led digital projects such as using the Matterport 3D imaging system to support the digital asset management project.
“Winning these awards means a great deal to me,” says Tamsin. “I’m grateful for the support I’ve had from colleagues and business partners, and I’m proud of the work we’re delivering within the Women and Children’s Hospital Programme. It’s exciting to be part of projects that will make a real difference for patients and staff.”
Brian Johnson, Director of Estates & Facilities, RCHT, adds: “We are extremely proud of Tamsin and everything she has achieved. Her contribution to the Women and Children’s Hospital Programme and to the wider New Hospital Programme has been exceptional. Tamsin brings skill, insight and a solutions-focused approach to every piece of work she undertakes. These awards are well deserved, and we’re very fortunate to have her as part of the team.”
The Women and Children’s Hospital is being built in Cornwall as part of the national New Hospital Programme.
