Cyber award win prompts NHS Chief visit
Cyber Security Analyst Josh Soper has been recognised nationally for his commitment to cyber security in the public sector.
Josh received the Cyber Associates Network Newcomer of the Year award earlier this year, which acknowledges a newcomer to a post who has shown significant contribution to their team and organisation.
Following the win, Josh was nominated for the NHS England Award, within the Public Sector category at the National Cyber Awards which took place on Monday 29 September. The awards celebrate achievements in cybersecurity within the public sector, defence, policing, and law enforcement.
Josh said: “It is an honour to be recognised on a national level at such an early stage in my cyber journey, this acknowledgment not only recognises my dedication to the industry, but also the support of those that have guided and inspired me.”
In recognition of this achievement Phil Huggins, national NHS Chief Information Security Officer for Health and Care, visited our Cornwall IT Services team on Friday 3 October to personally congratulate Josh and find out more about the digital and cyber landscape at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.
The department provides comprehensive digital services support across the NHS in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. One arm being the Cyber Security Operations Centre, which aims to predict, prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from cyber security incidents across the county.
