The ‘Introduction to Careers’ event received an incredible response, bringing together over 100 enthusiastic volunteers from the health and care sectors who served as ambassadors for their professions.

Billed as a ‘one-stop shop for careers information on roles in the health and care sector,’ the Discovery Day provided an opportunity for young people considering a career in these sectors to meet and chat with a range of colleagues, take part in interactive discussions across different stalls, and explore the work of various departments in the hospital.

Volunteers that attended had the chance to engage with and inspire more than 300 individuals considering a career in health and care.

Kate Teagle, Work Experience Co-ordinator for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, said:

Initial feedback from both exhibitors and attendees indicated that they greatly appreciated this valuable opportunity, with everyone expressing hopes for the Discovery Day to become an annual event. Those who gave feedback on the event described it as ‘amazing’, a ‘wonderful experience’ and a ‘brilliant success.’

Kate concludes: “A sincere thank you goes out to everyone involved, including the Clinical Matrons, Professional leads and Managers who encouraged and supported their teams to participate, as well as the staff at the Knowledge Spa who prepared the venue for our guests. Without your support, this event would not have been possible.”
