Appointment of Chief Medical Officer at RCHT

Dr Meredith Kane will be joining the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust Board as our new Chief Medical Officer on 1 November 2024, following the retirement of current Chief Medical Officer, Dr Allister Grant.

Meredith is currently Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director for acute hospitals at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Taunton and Yeovil hospitals. Prior to this she was Chief Medical Officer at Yeovil District Hospital for 3 years.  A consultant in paediatrics, Merry brings considerable experience in clinical leadership roles since 2014, including in emergency medicine and urgent care.

Looking forward to joining the board and clinical leadership team at RCHT, Meredith said: “This is an exciting time to be coming to RCHT with major projects such as eCare and the Women and Children’s Hospital on the horizon. Like other parts of the country, there are significant challenges to tackle, too, and I look forward to working with colleagues at RCHT, and with partners and stakeholders across Cornwall and the wider southwest peninsula, to ensure we provide the very best care to those who need our services.”
