Lung Cancer Research Study Publishes Results Showing Improved Survival Rates

The IPSOS study team have expressed their sincere gratitude for the great collaboration and support in delivering their study at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT).

RCHT were the highest recruiting centre in the UK. The study at using of atezolizumab (tecentriq) as a 1L monotherapy for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who are ineligible for platinum-based therapy based on data from the IPSOS study. 

Results showed an improvement survival rate and quality of life plus a favourable safety profile. The treatment has been licensed in Europe and the US and an announcement regarding NHS availability in England is expected soon.

The study ran for two years between 2017 and 2019 and enrolled 17 patients at RCHT. In total 453 patients across 23 countries took part in the study.
