Cornwall and IOS ME/CFS Service

About this service

We offer an outpatient and community-based service providing expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and advising on the clinical management of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) to adults and children who live in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Our Specialist Multidisciplinary Team works with patients, their GPs, other health professionals,  and local organisations to develop an individual clinical management plan to help with their long-term rehabilitation.  We are focused on recovery to help our patients lead healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives.

We aim to:

  • Enable you to understand your condition and symptoms
  • Improve your quality of life and plan for setbacks.
  • Assist you on a journey towards recovery with personalised care plans
  • Empower you to manage symptoms and access the best care available locally to you.
  • Support you to continue in favoured roles, education, and work if this is important to you
  • Involve and support your carers, family and friends

Diagnostic and therapeutic options will be tailored to the individual’s needs, including offering appointments in clinics, video consultations, telephone/email contacts and domiciliary/home visits. We ensure that the NICE guidelines (2021)  for people with ME/CFS are implemented

We provide care for those under 16 years of age to access therapeutic pathways, but they remain under the care of Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust (RCHT) Paediatricians or other Community Paediatric Services for medical care.

Please contact your GP for referral to the Adult ME/CFS Service.
