Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME)

About this service

We offer an outpatient and community-based service providing expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and advising on the clinical management of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) to adults and children who live in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Our specialist multidisciplinary team works with patients, their GPs, and local organisations to develop a personalised care management plan to support with their long-term rehabilitation. We are focused on recovery to help our patients lead healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives.

We aim to:

  • Enable you to understand your condition
  • Improve your quality of life
  • Assist you on a journey towards recovery
  • Empower you to manage symptoms
  • Support you to continue in education and employment
  • Involve and support your carers, family and friends

Diagnostic and therapeutic options will be tailored to the individual’s needs, including offering appointments in clinics, video consultations, telephone/email contacts and domiciliary visits. We ensure that the NICE guidelines for people with CFS/ME are implemented.

We provide care for those under 16 years of age to access therapeutic pathways, but they remain under the care of Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust (RCHT) Paediatricians or other Community Paediatric Services for medical care.

Please note: We are currently going through a transitional process to change the name of the condition and service from CFS/ME to ME/CFS as suggested by the updated 2021 NICE Guideline.

Please contact your GP for referral to the Adult CFS/ME Service.
