An agile, accountable, and genuinely partner-driven delivery centre bringing innovative commercial research to life across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.



The CIOS CRDC is a new NIHR-funded infrastructure designed to expand and accelerate research across our county. Hosted by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) and delivered in partnership with Primary Care, Community, Mental Health, Social Care and Voluntary Service Organisations, the CIOS CRDC will ensure our population benefits from access to cutting-edge research opportunities.
The CIOS CRDC has been established to:
Grow and sustain a research-active health and care system across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and will:
- Support industry-sponsored and commercial studies through a streamlined, collaborative delivery model
- Embed research into routine care pathways, making research more accessible and equitable for local communities
- Drive innovation in digital health, workforce development, and service design
- Provide strategic leadership and infrastructure to support investigators, research teams, and sponsors
