Phlebotomy (blood tests)

To book your blood test at one of our clinics use the following link:

Why and how?

Your GP or hospital outpatient clinic may wish to request a blood for you. This blood test may be for monitoring, medication, or routine check-up purposes.

To obtain a blood sample this will involve attending a phlebotomy clinic so that a sample of your blood can be sent to the Pathology laboratory for testing.

When you attend the clinic, the phlebotomist will call you into a clinic room. After confirming your identity, they will take blood from a vein in your arm with a small needle into a blood bottle. Once the blood bottle (or bottles, dependent on the types of blood test required) is full, the needle will be removed.

If you have any concerns, are nervous, or feel unwell before or after having your blood tests done, please inform the Phlebotomists.

If you are needle phobic and anxious, please also make the Phlebotomists aware prior to being seen to enable us to provide reassurance.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for a blood test?

If you need to fast (not eat) before your blood test, your doctor will let you know if this is required.

Once your appointment is booked, please ensure you bring your booking confirmation (email, text message, or letter) along with you to your appointment.

If you are unable to attend an appointment

You can cancel or rearrange by clicking the link in your booking confirmation email.
