About the Phlebotomy Outpatient Service
If you have recently attended a GP or hospital outpatient appointment and require a blood test, you can book an appointment at a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC). Phlebotomy clinics for patients aged 16 and over, are located at Bodmin Community Hospital and West Cornwall Hospital.
Opening hours
Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
Information for clinicians
Specialist or time sensitive tests must be taken on site at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro (tests that require being on ice, warm flask, or need to be processed immediately after collection, etc). Please send patient requests to rcht.phlebotomy@nhs.net with the following information:
- Patient name
- Date of birth
- NHS number
- Phone number
- Requester name/department
- Tests required
- Urgency
- Has the request been made on Maxims or ICE
Routine test requests should be made via ICE (alternatively, please provide the patient with a completed paper request form).
Other information
- We do not offer ultrasound-guided venepuncture or sample collection via vascular access devices.
- Phlebotomy clinics are suitable for patients over the age of 16, requiring venepuncture from the arm or hand.
